CoolSculpting®: What to Expect at Renew Medical Spa

Once you’ve made the decision to have a CoolSculpting® procedure, you may experience a range of emotions, such as nervousness or excitement. Many patients experience a combination of feelings as they consider the implications of an elective procedure, but here at Renew Medical Spa, we know that preparation can improve outcomes for patients. That’s why we strive to give you everything you may need to anticipate a positive experience in your upcoming CoolSculpting® procedure.

How do I prepare for my CoolSculpting® Procedure?

The only things you need to do before your session are:

-Have a consultation with our experienced providers. This will ensure you are well-informed about any risks and are assessed to be a good candidate for the procedure.

-Your provider may recommend that you pause any blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or Coumadin. This requirement can vary from patient to patient, so your provider will give you specific instructions based on your personal health history.

What will happen during my CoolSculpting® Procedure?

The procedure itself lasts between 35-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area you are treating. Most people describe it as mildly uncomfortable at the beginning, but not painful. You may feel sensations of cold, numbness, tugging, or suction, but many patients are able to listen to music or read a book while their procedure is happening. After your treatment is complete, your provider will massage the area, which may appear lumpy,   removing dead fat cells.

What can I expect during my recovery?

For busy individuals, this is a very positive aspect. You will be able to leave right after your procedure, though you may want to take the remainder of the day to rest in case you experience soreness. However, there are no restrictions, so you may be able to return to work the same day if desired. For the first five days, you may experience soreness and swelling, which can be alleviated by wearing compressive garments around the affected area. For up to two weeks, some people have itching, caused by a histamine reaction.  You can take oral antihistamines to deal with this mild side effect. Lastly, there is some numbness for many patients, up to three weeks after your procedure. Remember that it can take up to six months to see the final effects (see some before and after pics here), but the results are worth it. Combined with proper exercise and healthful lifestyle choices, CoolSculpting® can achieve lasting and positive changes.

How much does it cost?

Cost can be one of the most prohibitive hurdles to patients booking their CoolSculpting ® procedure. Elective procedures are usually more costly since most traditional insurances do not cover the cost. The average national cost of a CoolSculpting ® treatment alone is approximately $2500 and can span from $750 to $4000. That’s why we strive to make it attainable for anyone who wants to have CoolSculpting® through our customized package pricing. The cost varies from patient to patient, depending on the size and area of their treatment (we customize each treatment plan to you and your needs), but when we create your pricing package,  you can receive between 10-33% off. The other advantage of custom pricing is that you can combine your CoolSculpting ®  procedure with Botox or fillers, and receive significant savings over purchasing these individually.

We also offer a multitude of treatment plans, including our CareCredit® option, which is a financing plan. CareCredit® is a credit card that is specifically for health and wellness costs and offers unique benefits and rates for healthcare needs. When you and your provider decide on the best course of treatment to help you meet your goals, they will also cover the financial investment and your many options. Investing in your health and confidence is a big decision, and we want you to feel that your personal goals are reachable, no matter your financial status. Lastly, we offer our CoolResults Promise, which ensures that your investment will be well-spent and that you will be supported in the process.

Who is an ideal candidate?

Because of its data-backed results, CoolSculpting® is ideal for many patients. It is most recommended for those who are within 20 pounds of their goal weight, who struggle with small areas of stubborn fat on their bodies (such as stomach, chin, underarms, etc.), and who have a BMI (body mass index) around 25. In a recent study of over a thousand participants, Harvard Medical found that fat in the affected areas was reduced by approximately 25% through cryolypsis (the process used by CoolSculpting®). Overall, this procedure is best for the patient who has small areas of fat that need a targeted solution, and who wants to contour their body.

This is also the perfect month to start your CoolSculpting® journey, because we are hosting Flourish, a learning luncheon, on February 24th.  You can attend this informative event to learn more about the CoolSculpting® process, and receive exclusive discounts.
