Five Facial Services to Consider in Your Thirties

Turning thirty is an exciting milestone, and with this big change comes something new to consider: changing skin. As you leave your twenties behind, you may notice skin changes, like changing elasticity, texture, or dryness. Even if you had relatively blemish-free skin throughout your teens and early adulthood, adult acne or sunspots may have made a sudden appearance. The reason for this is simple: the way your skin regenerates and grows changes as you age. The good news is that even though you may feel frustrated with these skincare developments, you can arm yourself with knowledge and take positive action to feel confident and empowered again. Your twenties may be behind you, but your best skincare days can still be ahead.

Botox®

Many people are under the impression that BOTOX® is for those over forty, but this popular treatment for excessive sweating, wrinkles, and a drooping brow, is one of our most-booked therapies for patients in their thirties. For those with moderate to severe crow’s feet (fines lines around the eye), and wrinkles between the eyes, this can be a safe and effective answer. At Renew Medical Spa in Medford, this is just a twenty-minute procedure. A reduction in wrinkles caused by muscle movement can be appreciated as early as 3-4 days, but it may take up to 2 weeks for the full results to take effect. Most importantly, it’s a facial service that is safe and produces a change you can see and is an ideal foray into skin procedures if you have never had any. According to American Family Physician, you can expect predictable results and very few side effects.

Dermal fillers

Our bodies’ collagen production peaks between age 25 and 35, and as production starts to slow in our thirties, it can lead to a “sagging” effect on the cheeks or around the mouth. When you book a filler procedure, the provider will be injecting the target area with a substance to create a fuller look. So, what is being injected? The types of dermal fillers can vary based on the location on the body and the amount needed to fill the area, but two that are offered at Renew are dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid and fillers made of calcium hydroxyapatite. Your provider will be able to recommend which filler is right for your needs. The average time for this procedure is around 30 minutes, and you can see results for up to two years after treatment. Phototherapy

As you move into your thirties, many experts recommend focusing your efforts on sun protection, which is one of the leading causes of damage to the skin. Because the skin’s ability to regenerate and create new cells slows down, sun damage can appear even more quickly at this age. Using antioxidants and retinol supplements are two ways that you can combat any future sun damage, but if you’re dealing with past sun damage from one too many visits to the tanning bed or days at the lake, phototherapy is ideal. Forever Young™ Phototherapy delivers light energy to areas of your body that have hyperpigmentation or redness and can treat overall dull skin. You can read more about this therapy on our blog.

Microdermabrasion

Another way that you combat existing sun damage is by having regular treatments of microdermabrasion. This non-invasive treatment uses exfoliation to even out skin tone, dark spots, and complexion and penetrates deep into the foundation of the skin. There are two types of microdermabrasion: crystal and diamond. The most popular is the crystal type, which sprays particles of crystals onto the skin surface, and vacuums them up after the gentle, “sandblasting” type exfoliation. At Renew, we are proud to use the DiamondTome™ System, which is crystal-free. The diamond-tip procedure is much cleaner (won’t leave residue) and is more like using gentle sandpaper to achieve the desired results. One of the benefits of choosing the DiamondTome™ System is that it is gentler on sensitive areas, such as underneath the eyes.

Kybella

Besides the effects of the sun and natural aging, other factors like stress or weight gain can undermine our confidence, even before we hit middle age. There is one, often under-treated area that many people secretly struggle with: a double chin (also known as submental fullness). In social situations, this can create a loss of self-esteem, and thankfully, there is a safe solution. Kybella is an injectable solution that helps to break down the fat cells in the chin area. This creates a slimmer profile and can be achieved after only 2-4 treatments. After about six months, you can see the lasting, maximum results (view more before and after photos here).

Many people describe entering their thirties as a time when they want to take life a little more seriously and invest in themselves and their lifestyle. Your skin can be part of these meaningful investments, and these procedures will give lasting dividends. At Renew Medical Spa, we are ready to help you meet your skincare goals. In fact, we were the first medical spa in Southern Oregon to offer VISIA Skin Imaging analysis, which patients will undergo during their initial free consultation with our experienced team. The VISIA is painless and only takes a few minutes, but gives us a crucial analysis of your skin that helps us shape your treatment plan. Once we store the images in our database, you’ll be able to see firsthand the amazing progress that you are making. To begin your free consultation, contact us today at (541) 618-1461.
